General Questions

What services are offered? I provide therapy for individuals of all ages, focusing on issues like anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, trauma, and relationship challenges. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs and goals. How do I know if therapy is right for me? Therapy can benefit anyone seeking support, clarity, or tools to manage life’s challenges, whether you're navigating a specific issue or simply looking to better understand yourself. The first session is an excellent opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and explore if therapy feels like the right fit for your needs.

How do I schedule an appointment? Text/Call: (561) 377-2078 Email: theresaway.therapy@gmail.com How long are therapy sessions? Sessions typically last 50 minutes, ideal for focused work and setting manageable goals, while 80-minute sessions provide more time for in-depth exploration, trauma processing, or couples and family therapy, offering flexibility to suit your needs. What can I expect during the first session? The first session focuses on building rapport, getting to know each other, and creating a safe space to share your concerns. We'll explore your needs, discuss your goals, and begin creating a treatment plan tailored to your situation. It's also an opportunity to assess if we’re a good fit to work together and address any questions you might have about the therapy process. What is your cancellation policy? Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur the full session fee, as this time is set aside exclusively for you and could otherwise be offered to another client in need.

Payment & Insurance

Do you accept insurance? I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. What are your rates? Rates vary depending on the type and length of the session; please reach out directly for more information. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship. If you are able to pay the full rate, know that you are helping to make therapy accessible and affordable for others who may not otherwise have the means to seek support. What forms of payment do you accept? I accept credit/debit card payments. As part of the onboarding process, you’ll complete a form securely collecting and storing your card information in your client file. Payments are set to automatic processing for convenience, with your card charged between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. following your scheduled session. You can update your payment method at any time through the secure portal. What is a superbill, and how does it work? A superbill is a detailed receipt provided at the end of each month, summarizing your payments. You can submit it to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if they offer out-of-network benefits. It's important to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage and reimbursement process. Why Choose to Pay for Therapy Out of Pocket? Paying for therapy out of pocket ensures greater privacy, flexibility, and personalized care, as it eliminates the need for a formal diagnosis and avoids sharing detailed records with insurance companies. It allows you to choose the right therapist for your needs and ensures that sessions are tailored to your goals without restrictions. Additionally, private payment supports higher-quality care by reducing administrative burdens on therapists and prioritizing your well-being

Is therapy confidential? Yes, your privacy is my priority, and all sessions are confidential. However, there are specific situations where confidentiality may be legally broken – I am required to take steps to ensure safety, which may include notifying authorities or contacting emergency services. 1. If there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. 2. Suspected abuse or neglect – If I have reason to believe a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected. 3. Court orders – If a court subpoenas your therapy records or testimony, I may be legally obligated to provide the requested information. These exceptions are designed to protect safety and comply with legal and ethical obligations. Outside of these circumstances, your information remains private and secure. How secure are virtual sessions? I use a HIPAA-compliant platform called SimplePractice to ensure your sessions are private and secure. Each client is provided with their own secure portal access, where you can manage appointments, complete forms, and communicate confidentially. This system prioritizes your privacy and the security of your information. What happens to my records? Your records are stored securely and only accessed as needed for your care. You may request copies at any time.
